Just two months later, it’s been accomplished.

This past weekend, the group held the school’s first Sadie Hawkins dance (where girls ask guys) to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of West Chester/Liberty.

Over 300 students enjoyed a fun evening, with all of the proceeds from ticket sales going to the charity.

“When we mentioned that every penny we raised was going to charity, people were so generous with their time and talents,” said NHS President Max Pflaumer. “The DJ gave us a greatly reduced price, everyone cleared their schedules to help, the custodians were so helpful in setup and teardown – even area restaurants helped provide refreshments for the evening.”

Just how successful was the dance? NHS plans to present a check for about $2500 to the Boys & Girls Club in the near future. The group selected the charity because they wanted  to do something to help the area’s youth.

NHS is really happy with the results of the dance and hopes that the school’s underclassmen will make it an annual event to benefit a charity. “Hopefully they can build on our initial success and make it even bigger and raise even more money for the charity of their choice,” said Plfaumer.
