Class Placement for 2016-2017

Each spring, Lakota elementary school administrators and teachers spend a significant amount of time preparing class lists for the upcoming year. The first priority for class placement in all Lakota elementary schools is to create well-balanced classrooms for all students. In order to accomplish this goal, many factors must be taken into consideration. All schools look at factors such as overall academic ability, classroom performance, qualification for special classes and social interactions to determine placement. We are very consistent in this practice.

Information from your child’s current classroom teacher is the first priority in this process. We understand that you may have other information to share about your child. If you have critical information about your child, you may fill out the ADENA ELEMENTARY – PARENT INPUT FOR CLASS PLACEMENT – 2016/2017 form and submit to Mrs. Leichman by the end of school on Thursday, April 14 for consideration. Please send the input form only if there are important factors that you wish to be considered. Input forms requesting a specific teacher or received after the end of school on April 14 cannot be considered. All feedback received on the Input Form will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.

In the upper grades (particularly 4, 5 and 6), please realize that students may have as many as 3-4 different teachers. There are also special needs considerations, enrichment reading and advanced math classes which often times will determine which teacher a child will have for a specific class. Because of these realities, some parental requests may not be able to be honored completely.
