Former Lakota Assistant Principal John Mattingly Returns Home

John Mattingly photoLakota Local Schools is pleased to welcome John Mattingly back to Lakota as the new principal at Adena Elementary. Pending school board approval, the former assistant principal will move into his new role for the start of the 2017-2018 school year.

Formerly a Lakota teacher at both Wyandot Early Childhood School and Independence Elementary, he transitioned into administration as the assistant principal at both schools, in addition to Woodland Elementary. He gained two years of principal experience at Finneytown Local Schools before deciding to return to his home district this year.

“John has a lot to offer to the Adena community,” said Lakota Superintendent Matt Miller. “Besides more than 13 years of experience in education, he is a Lakota resident who has already made a positive mark in leadership roles at other Lakota schools. It is clear to me that he cares deeply about this community and will be a great addition to Adena.”

Mattingly graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Cincinnati.
