About Lakota Performing Arts
Whatever your passion for performing arts may be - drama, music, design or technology - there's a place for you in Lakota's theater programs. Beginning as early as junior high, students take to the stage (or behind the scenes if they prefer) to share their talents and stage top notch productions for the entire community to enjoy.
It's just another opportunity for students to explore their creative sides and test their passions beyond the classroom experience.
Junior High Schools
Most Lakota junior high schools offer students an opportunity to get involved in one springtime production, through which they might have their first exposure to performing on a stage or managing a show.
Productions are open to the public and have featured such titles as Seussical Jr., Doc Doc Goose, Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland.
Opportunities abound in high school performing arts programs, where multiple productions each year call for acting, singing, set design, choreography, technical support and more. Some shows are even directed entirely by students, giving them an opportunity to take on a leadership role and test their interest in becoming a director.
A mix of dramas and musicals caters to many different interests and talent levels, too. Recent productions have included such titles as Mary Poppins, The Boyfriend, Cinderella, Othello, Junie B. Jones the Musical and 12 Angry Jurors. All productions are open to the public.
