Parents and students took a two-week class where they worked side-by-side to create keepsake ornaments to take home with them. Before designing their art pieces, parents and students were able to enjoy dinner together.

East art teacher Jesse Dornan led the workshop, with the help of other Lakota staff and community members. A total of 28 parents and students attended the class.

The workshop was a unique way to help build stronger family bonds. Students enjoyed having the opportunity to share their school’s art program with their parents – and parents enjoyed having the chance to spend time with their teenagers.

The class was part of Lakota’s parent engagement and community outreach program to build stronger school and family relationships.
