Dear Lakota Parents, Guardians, Students and Staff,

WE are excited to welcome our students back into our buildings in August. It is our continued hope that the 2021-2022 school year will have a more “normal” look and feel.

At last night’s school board meeting, I announced that, after careful consideration of the Ohio Department of Health’s recommendations and consulting with medical experts at UC Health and Cincinnati Children’s, masks and facial coverings will be optional for students and staff at Lakota Local Schools this fall.

While we are leaving the decision on whether or not to wear face coverings to our families and staff, I want to remind you that the Ohio Department of Health recommends those who are not vaccinated should consider wearing a mask or face covering indoors.

We will continue to ask our staff and families to review our health assessment before coming to school each day. By staying home when you or your child are not feeling well, you will not only help protect others from COVID, but will also help stop the spread of illnesses such as the flu. Click here to view our health assessment checklist.

I hope that you are enjoying your summer and are able to take some time to relax and recharge. Please continue to check www.lakotaonline.com for back-to-school updates. WE look forward to seeing our students back in our classrooms soon.

Sincerely,

Matthew J. Miller
Superintendent
