photo of graduate with elementary studentAs a way of recognizing the Class of 2018 as role models for their younger counterparts, Lakota is gearing up for another “Parade of Graduates.”

On Thursday, May 3, all 10 of Lakota’s elementary schools will welcome a group of this year’s graduates in fanfare fashion. Graduates dressed in their caps and gowns will return to their Lakota elementary school as students, staff, parents and community members line the halls to cheer them on. During the parade, seniors receive congratulatory letters of advice and encouragement written by the elementary students.

Derived from Lakota’s Champions for Change program, the parade is designed to celebrate the achievements of our graduating students while also demonstrating to every elementary student that others who look like them or have the same goals as them have reached such a milestone.

Staff, parents and community members are invited to participate in the “Parade of Graduates.” Visit any Lakota elementary school on May 3 at 10 a.m. to participate.
