With more than 3,500 elected members across the state, O’Connor was one of just five selected to receive the association’s most prestigious honor, the All-Ohio School Board Award.

“I am humbled to be recognized as one of this year’s honorees for the All-Ohio School Board Award,” said O’Connor. “I’ve been very fortunate to work with so many dedicated and hardworking board members across the Southwest region and at the state level, equally deserving of recognition.”

In October, O’Connor was recognized by the OSBA Southwest Region as the recipient of the 2021 Al Kettlewell Award. The award, named after an educational leader in southwest Ohio, is given to a board member to honor their outstanding service. In 2017, she was named a Master Board Member by the association.

O’Connor is passionate about advocating for students at the local, state and national level. “Working to advocate for a strong public education system that prepares our students for the future has been a major priority for me at the local, state and national level during my twenty-one collective years of board experience with Lakota and Butler Tech,” she said. O’Connor is president-elect of the Ohio School Board Association Southwest Regional Executive Committee and serves as one of two Ohio Congressional District 8 representatives to the NSBA Federal Relations Network. “The future of our nation depends on the success of our entire educational system to ensure that all students are given the opportunity to meet their fullest potential.”

O’Connor, who began serving on Lakota’s Board of Education in 2008, is actively involved in supporting West Chester and Liberty townships. She serves as the president and board chair for C3: Caring Community Collaborative. Other community involvement includes Junior Achievement, Butler County Children and Family First Council, Butler County Suicide Prevention Coalition, West Chester Liberty Chamber Alliance, UCBMA, Boy Scouts of America, Northern Cincinnati Foundation, Butler County United Way Campaign Cabinet, Community First Solutions Board, Rotary and the Faith Alliance of Southwest Ohio.
