Seniors Take Top Scores in American Legion Government Test

Lakota East's Hannah Ackerman and Weston Lindner brought home top scores in the American Legion's Government Test for the six-county 4th District.

The students will be attending the American Legion's district meeting in March to receive their awards, and their test papers will be forwarded to the Ohio department headquarters for comparison to the other 11 district winners. Having two district winners from the same high school is a rare feat -- and this is Hannah's second year in a row to have a top score. The top three boys and top three girls for the 12th grade will win a trip to Washington D.C. and the Gettysburg Battlefield. Good luck to Hannah and Weston!

Lakota West Sophomore Honored with Award

Breiland Anderson, a sophomore at Lakota West High School and founding member of Sole Bros, Inc., will be honored at the 18th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Keep the Dream Alive” Award Ceremony on Jan. 15. Breiland, along with four friends, began the non-profit organization in 2015. Its mission is to provide new or nearly new quality sneakers to youth in need. Since founding the organization, Sole Bros Inc. has collected more than 3,000 pairs of sneakers. By partnering with larger organizations, the shoes have been distributed to youth worldwide. Great job, Breiland!
