It should come as no surprise that educators have to meet their students’ social and emotional needs before they can ever tackle their academic growth. And where trauma is involved, that task can be even more challenging. 

The latest “Inside Lakota Learning” blog shares how Lakota defines all forms of student trauma - it’s not exactly what you’d expect - and how Lakota educators are using non-traditional approaches to help students get in the right mindset to learn. Student Services Director Lori Brown shares the district’s emphasis on trauma-informed professional development practices, as well as upcoming learning opportunities for parents and community members. 

Lakota educators are the voice behind the “Inside Lakota Learning” blog, which is designed to help educate the community about Lakota’s learning strategies and oftentimes bridge the gap between how those strategies can be reinforced at home.
