Class of 2020 Parade of Graduates Call for SubmissionsBesides graduation, another important right of passage for Lakota's seniors is the “Parade of Graduates,” which has traditionally brought many of our graduates back to the elementary school where their schooling started. The tradition invites our elementary students and staff to cheer on our graduates as they parade through the halls with a sign displaying their future plans to pursue one of the 4 Es: Enrollment, Employment, Enlistment or an Entrepreneurial path.

While we are making plans to reschedule some of the other traditional senior milestones closer to the new graduation dates, this is one event that we have decided to reimagine in a virtual format. This ensures that we don’t miss the opportunity to celebrate our Class of 2020 in some way closer to their original graduation date.

Next month, we will be releasing virtual parades in the form of separate videos dedicated to each of the elementary schools our graduates may have attended. Our hope is that this alternative format will open up to our entire community a platform through which they can share their personal messages and well wishes with our graduates.

Just like the traditional parade, participation is completely optional. All Lakota East and West graduates are invited to submit a photo for inclusion in their respective video. Although we encourage graduates to be creative, we do ask that they follow these guidelines:

  • To mimic the traditional parade, students are encouraged to create and hold a sign displaying their name and future plans.

  • We also encourage them to showcase in some way their personal interests.

  • Caps and gowns will not be available in this timeframe, so students are encouraged to wear spirit wear or something to represent their post-secondary plans.

  • Photo should be submitted in a horizontal format (not vertical).
Please submit your photo via this form no later than Monday, April 27. Please direct any questions to Lakota East counselor Nina Inzero or Lakota West counselor Effie Jata.
