This is the 4th year for the event to help area families get the school year off to a good start.

Cincinnati Children’s Liberty Community Advisory Committee partners have been hosting separate school supply collection drives at their workplaces and community organizations for most of the summer.

The efforts culminate on Thursday, July 22
nd from Noon-2 p.m. with a Stuff the Bus event at Liberty Center, 7100 Foundry Way, 45069. From 2-4:30 p.m., volunteers will fill 650 backpacks with school supplies. Who benefits? Lakota School students and Cincinnati Children’s patient families in need.

We are always grateful to our community and the support they show our students. We truly appreciate the Advisory Committee for organizing this event that will certainly help our kids start the year off right,” said Matt Miller, Superintendent, Lakota School District.

In addition to school supplies, backpacks will include informational flyers providing learning tips, child health information and community resources.

“We’re just happy to be able to serve our community. Let’s face it, this can be a tough time for many families with so many financial responsibilities hitting all at one time. So, if we can help make it a little easier by providing some basic needs to start school, it’s a win for everyone,” said Michelle Hopkins, Sr. Specialist, Cincinnati Children’s.

Anyone interested in donating school supplies can drop off at the Stuff the Bus event. Supplies needed include: ear buds with an audio jack, headphones, pencil bags, hand sanitizer, tissues and Zip lock bags (gallon and quart sizes).

This initiative is made possible with partners from the following organizations:

Cincinnati Children’s, Lakota Local Schools, Liberty Center, MidPointe Library, West Chester & Liberty Lifestyle, Liberty Township, Primary Health Solutions; West Chester Chamber Alliance, EDGE Teen Center and Lakota Sports Organization.
