About Lakota Athletics

Lakota's athletic programs bring out the best in our student-athletes, both on and off the field.

More than 3,300 Lakota students participate in one of the 29 Varsity school-sponsored sports offered in the fall, winter and spring at our junior high schools and high schools. A proud member of the Greater Miami Conference and the Ohio High School Athletic Association, Lakota's student-athletes benefit from a highly competitive field locally, regionally and statewide. Throughout Lakota's long history, our teams and individual competitors have captured close to 40 state championship titles.

Academic Excellence & Collegiate Participation

Academic excellence is an expectation for our student-athletes. At the high school level, Lakota's student-athletes are regular recipients of the GMC All-Academic Award.

Last year, 66 student-athletes from Lakota East and Lakota West, combined, made a commitment to participate in their sport at the collegiate level. This number is consistently well above the national average.

Philanthropy & Community Support

Lakota athletics is also defined by its strong commitment to philanthropy, supporting both local and national causes. Lakota West's annual "Volley for the Cure" and East's "Hawks for the Cure" events, for example, have raised more than $150,000 in support of the Susan G. Komen Fund for breast cancer research.

We also appreciate the community's support through partnerships like the one with Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and the Christ Hospital Health Network. We encourage and welcome the community at any of our athletic sporting events

Athletics Hall of Fame

Our Athletics Hall of Fame celebrates Lakota's most talented and influential student-athletes, recognizing them with the prestigious honor at our annual Hall of Fame dinner and awards program. Over 200 student-athletes have earned the honor of being inducted into this group.
